چکیده

Background: Various adjuvants have been added to improve the quality of supraclavicular brachail plexus block and prolong postoperative analgesia. The aim present study was compare onset duration sensory motor blockade provided by dexmedetomidine fentanyl as ropivacaine in such block. Methods: In this 60 patients with American Society Anesthesiologists grade I/II scheduled for elective upper limb surgeries were randomly allocated into two groups. Group A received 30 mL 0.5% 1 µg kg-1 dexmedetomidine, group B brachial adverse events during perioperative period noted. Results: 13.47±1.73 min 22.87±2.27 respectively 14.80±2.20 24.33±2.63 which statistically significant (P<0.05). significantly higher compared (826±58.29 vs 592±51.62 minutes, p< 0.0001). Conclusions: Dexmedetomidine provides faster longer when used an adjuvant without any side effects.

Supraclavicular Brachial Plexus Block: Effect of Using Dexmedetomidine as Adjuvant to Ropivacaine. A Randomized Double Blind Study

Background And Aims: Brachial plexus block is the cornerstone of regional anaesthesia practice. Various adjuncts have been used as adjuvants to ropivacaine in the past. This study was done to see the effect on duration of analgesia using dexmedetomidine as adjuvant to ropivacaine 0.5% in supraclavicular brachial plexus block (SBPB). Method: A total of eighty patients undergoing elective upper l...

Comparison of Dexmedetomidine and Clonidine as Adjuvant to Ropivacaine in Supraclavicular Brachial Plexus Nerve Blocks

Adjuncts to local anaesthetics for brachial plexus block enhances the quality and duration of analgesia. The purpose of this study was to compare two alpha-2 agonists clonidine and dexmedetomidine, when added as adjuvant to ropivacaine, in respect to onset, duration of sensory and motor block along with duration of analgesia. After informed consent, Sixty ASA I and II patients scheduled for ele...

The effect of dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant to ropivacaine on the bispectral index for supraclavicular brachial plexus block

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the sedative effect of dexmedetomidine (DEX) added to ropivacaine for supraclavicular brachial plexus block (BPB) using the bispectral index (BIS). METHODS Sixty patients (American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status 1 or 2, aged 20-65 years) undergoing wrist and hand surgery under supraclavicular BPB were randomly allocated to two gro...

Comparative study of effects of buprenorphine or clonidine as adjuvants to local anesthetics (bupivacaine 0.25%) for supraclavicular brachial plexus block

Adjuvant to local anesthetics have been tried to enhance analgesic profile. Opioids prolong analgesia but have unfavorable side effect profile. So search for non-opioid with comparable analgesic duration and minimal side effect continues. Hence our study aims to compare Buprenorphine; an opioid similar in structure to morphine but approx. 33 times more potent, to a novel drug Clonidine; an imid...
